Overview

The Federal Republic of Nigeria is located on the West African Coastline, in the Gulf of the Guinea to be precise and lends its name from the major river of “Niger”. It has common boarders with Togo on the West, Cameroon on the East and Niger on the North. The capital is Abuja and the main currency used is the Naira. The countries population is over 150 million and has an overall area of 923,768 square kilometres (356,669 square miles).

Otherwise known as the “Coal City”, Enugu is located in the South Eastern region of Nigeria. It is a typically sprawling Igbo land. Enugu is also reputed for its Teaching Hospital (which saw the worlds first open heart surgery) as well as its nationwide universities. The ground on which the Hotel was erected used to shelter the headquarters for the Igbo’s during the tragic civil war.

The word “Nike” means “With Power” and it is well known that the Igbo people lived up to this name. The city’s main street “Okpara Avenue” runs through the main town from the North East to the South West, offering all the usual attractions of typical in-land Nigeria, which includes street traders, shops, fashion & clothing boutiques, banks, markets, post offices, garages, eateries and The State’s Stadium.

Nigeria is most definitely a jewel to the beautiful African continent.
