I stayed at the above hotel from the 1st of November 2011 to the 4th of the same month and my stay there was like home away from home.Friendly staff, scenic environment and the famous FIRE made my stay more interesting.Keep up the good work and customer care. I am definately planing to pay another visit to this wonderful and scenic place.
"Zesa affects Troutbeck"Posted on September 4, 2011
Troutbeck is freezing and has NO Zesa all day long. The generator does not enable the heater in the rooms or the kettle to work. You literally freeze. There is no set price for a room and seems to be based on what they feel like charging on the day which is WAY too much when you cannot enjoy the room you have paid for. The restaurant staff laughed AT me, to my face, when I complained that they wanted to charge me for room service as the Snack Bar apparently closed at 6pm and not 8.30pm as is stated in the Information Pack in the rooms. When I complained I was offered a "slap in the face" discount for ONE of the 2 nights I stayed, which I refused. The supposed "free" internet connection was a con...you get onto the internet, yes, but cannot access any of the most common websites. The price is far too much considering the Zesa problems Troutbeck is encountering and they should change their price accordingly. It is a stunning place and beautifully clean, but spoiled completely by the above. The CEO leaves a note in each room to invite complaints or compliments...I complained and have had NO response whatsoever.
"Lovely setting but disappointing service does not match $180 price tag"Posted on February 10, 2011
Lovely setting, clean, comfortable well-appointed rooms, friendly and welcoming staff.
However the service lacks the attention to detail you would expect of a US$180 price tag. The water jug in my room was empty. The electric socket for the kettle was burnt out and the wire too short. My TV remote did not work – I think it just needed new batteries but after 45 minutes staff were unable to fix it. Food was mediocre and vegetarian options were limited to pasta – on request the chef did make me a tasty but very salty vegetable curry. The deserts were uninspiring, and in this class of hotel I would also have expected butter rather than margarine with my bread. Loud piped music in the restaurant spoils the very special tranquil natural environment. I was also unable to use the swimming pool either in the evening because it closes at 5.30pm or in the morning because nobody could find the key.
"A Scenic Escape"Posted on December 24, 2008
This hotel is truly the place to go if you are looking for a relaxing retreat. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
